Every picture is custom framed in a hand selected
wooden frame, and has a beautiful black velvet back finish.
Using two glass plates creates the unique three
dimensional look you will not find in other reverse glass paintings. It adds the necessary
depth to let you loose yourself in those dreamy, one of a kind
landscape gems you will not be able to find anywhere else.
Pictures are painted reverse: start with the highlights and
details, like the eyes and the rosy lips of a little girl, paint first
the sun rays and white puffy clouds, and end up with the blue of the
sky. Constant flipping of the glass in hand while being
painted is necessary to keep track on how the colors will show.
Irene spends countless hours designing, painting, and
finishing those beautiful works of art. Keep in mind, there may be small
imperfections that could be avoided if those pictures were done by
machines.
This craft is a hand-me-down through generations, and
is kept as a family 'secret'. Historically it was used to create
religious motives for decorative glass panels in churches.
Irene's love for nature and local scenery like snow
covered hills, small children sledding, old churches and small villages,
led her to transfer all this beauty onto glass.
